The man behind the lens of VHM Photography

My name is Victor Mata and I am a Professional Photographer based in Houston TX. I have a lovely wife who is a great cook, and we have two beautiful daughters: Angie the oldest, and Amber, the joy of our home. Together we do what we are most passionate about: Travel.

I was born in Brownsville, Texas and grew up in Mexico. I specialize in various types of photography like portraits, landscapes, nature, and night shots.

My passion for photography began approximately in 1998. My first camera was a Kodak Star 110. Maybe some of you remember those films with which you had to take the perfect shot or end up completely wasting it. Later with the digital era I had some point and shoot cameras. It wasn't until 2013 that I bought my first DSLR, a Nikon D3200. I later upgraded to a D7200 and a D500, and then to a D810. Currently I use a Nikon Z 7 and 5 lenses: the NIKKOR S 24-70mm f/4 S, the AF-S NIKKOR 16-35mm f/4G ED VR, the 50 mm 1.8 for portraits, the AF-S NIKKOR 70-200mm f/2.8GII ED for long distance landscapes and my favorite: the Venus Laowa 12 mm with which I capture my favorite shots: the night shots.

But I don't want to bore you anymore, it's best to get to know more about me through my photographs.
